Sources confirmed Sunday that Wisconsin's All-American Ryan Taylor will undergo hip surgery that will end his wrestling career for the Badgers.

Taylor, an alum of Ohio powerhouse St. Paris Graham, placed seventh in 2015 at 133 pounds. He hit his stride two seasons ago after moving up to 133 pounds from 125. Unfortunately for Taylor, he often found himself battling various injuries along the way. After a sterling sophomore campaign, Taylor earned the No. 2 seed at NCAAs. During his career in Madison, Wisconsin, Taylor knocked off Cory Clark, Jimmy Gulibon, Zane Richards, Eric Montoya and several other All-Americans. Taylor brought uncanny athleticism along with a variety of attacks from his feet and on top—upper-body stuff, slide-bys, leg attacks and turns. Taylor had as vast an arsenal as anyone at this weight.

With Taylor unable to return, the Badgers will look to Isaac Jordan and Connor Medbery to lead their squad next year. Jordan will be the highest returning placewinner at 165 this year, and Medbery (285) is coming off of an Olympic redshirt campaign.
