Put another gold medal in the trophy case for Jordan Burroughs.
The world and Olympic champion dominated his way to another top finish at the German Grand Prix. In his best match of the tournament, he literally blasted through Bekzod Abdurakhmonov in the semifinals, 9-3, after shutting out his first two opponents 10-0.
But it was his lightning-in-a-bottle quickness and power that got everyone stirring when he hit Abdurakhmonov with one of the most powerful doubles we have ever seen to take the immediate 4-0 lead before getting the 9-3 win to advance to the finals where he finished off his gold medal run with a 3-1 win over Martin Obst of Germany.
Jordan Burroughs improved to 129-2 in his senior-level freestyle career en route to picking up another title, which is why he's our FloWrestler of the Week.
Burroughs' full results:
WIN Markus Knobel (Germany), 10-0
WIN Andrzej Sokalski (Poland), 10-0
WIN Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (Uzbekistan), 9-3
WIN Martin Obst (Germany), 3-1
Other FloWrestler of the Week Nominees:
Dan Dennis: Dennis only gave up two total points as he claimed the 57kg German Grand Prix title.
Tyler Dow: Dismantled the field at the Cadet Pan-American Championships. Dow had three straight shutout technical falls before recording a pin in the finals to win the title.
Noah Adams: Had all shutout victories on the way to winning titles in both freestyle and Greco at Pan-Ams. He outscored his opponents 17-0 in Greco, then followed up by winning four straight freestyle wins for a combined score of 27-0. He also won the Golden Boot as the OW of the freestyle tournament.
Colin Valdiviez: Won title in both freestyle and Greco at Pan-Ams. Valdiviez battled his way to both titles as he won in the finals of both styles on criteria.
Cierra Foster: Pinned every single one of her opponents on the way to winning the 56kg title at Pan-Ams. She also won the Golden Boot as the OW of the tournament.
Note: Team USA Cadet boys and girls teams recorded a total of 13 titles, along with seven silver and seven bronze medals, across both styles as they won all three team titles. Our Olympians also came away with five medals (two gold, one silver and two bronze) at the German Grand Prix.
