The Northern Iowa Panthers open their MAC dual schedule by hosting the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sunday, November 27th. Coach Doug Schwab and the Panthers are 2-1 on the year, while coach Steve Martin's Monarchs are looking for their first win. They opened their MAC season with a loss to Missouri.

Thomsen vs Grant LaMont
Everard is a veteran presence for the Panthers in his fifth year in the program, while Hilliard is starting as a true freshman. Everard is a modern heavyweight, one that wrestles more like a 174 with low singles and moves his feet well.

125: No. 3 Dylan Peters (UNI) vs No. 18 Brandon Jeske (ODU)
These two have met three times so far in their college careers. In the last dual of the 2014 season, Peters opened the meet with ODU by pinning Jeske in the second period. The next year, they once again met in the final dual of the season, with Peters winning 8-3. UNI emerged victorious by two in both of those duals. Their last meeting was an 8-2 Peters win in the semis of the 2015 MAC tournament. Jeske has yet to wrestle this season, while Peters is just 0-1 on the year.133: No. 19 Josh Alber (UNI) vs Alex Madrigal (ODU)
Alber has nine wins so far and all are by bonus points. Four of Madrigal's six wins are by bonus points. This one could be a MAC rivalry for a few years as Alber is a sophomore and Madrigal a freshman. Have to think this one favors the Panthers due to Alber's offensive arsenal and experience from qualifying for NCAAs.141: Jake Hodges (UNI) vs Emilio Saavedra (ODU)
Hodges has been UNI's guy in all three of their duals. Saavedra took Matt Manley to overtime to start the year and has four pins as he begins a new at 141 for Old Dominion, replacing two-time All American Chris Mecate.149: No. 12 Max Thomsen (UNI) vs Michael Hayes (ODU)
Northern Iowa has a decided advantage in the lighter weights. Thomsen will be the third ranked foe in the first four weights for ODU, but is hungry to bounce back from his loss to Solomon Chishko of Virginia Tech.Thomsen vs Grant LaMont
157: Paden Moore (UNI) vs Shane Jones or Austin Eads (ODU)
This is a major swing match. Jones has been the guy for the Monarchs in both duals, but Eads is listed as a potential in the media notes. With UNI controlling the lower weights, ODU needs a win here as they move into the upperweights, where three of their next four are ranked.165: Bryce Steiert (UNI) vs No. 16 Seldon Wright (ODU)
Steiert and Thomsen are two major keys in coach Doug Schwab's plan to turn UNI into a national title contender. Steiert was the first true freshman to start at UNI since Joey Lazor in 2010 and their first true freshman national qualifier since 2003.174: Taylor Lujan (UNI) vs Antonio Agee (ODU)
The last time we saw Taylor Lujan wrestle someone from a school in Virginia, the fans were treated to a fantastic match. Agee better bring his lunch pail, because Lujan is going to come out shooting and has the ability to turn people quickly.184: Jacob Holschlag (UNI) vs No. 12 Jack Dechow (ODU)
This is where UNI has to avoid bonus points and hold onto their early lead. Dechow is not generally a bonus points guy and Holschlag hasn't given up bonus this year.197: Jared Bartel (UNI) No. 11 Kevin Beazley (ODU)
It's great to see Beazley back on the mat after an elbow injury sidelined him for his Olympic redshirt year. Bartel is looking for his first win on the year.
285: No. 19 JJ Everard (UNI) vs Will Hilliard (ODU)
Everard is a veteran presence for the Panthers in his fifth year in the program, while Hilliard is starting as a true freshman. Everard is a modern heavyweight, one that wrestles more like a 174 with low singles and moves his feet well. How To Watch
