Wyoming Hosts Iowa State Live On Flo
Wyoming Hosts Iowa State Live On Flo
Bryce Meredith and the Wyoming Cowboys host the Iowa State Cyclones live on Flo
Wyoming hosts Iowa State in their Big 12 opener on Sunday, November 26th. The Cowboys lost their season opening dual to Nebraska on the 13th, while the Cyclones picked up their first win of the season yesterday over Northern Colorado. All three of ISU's duals have been Big 12, and they stand at 1-2 both overall and in the conference.
The dual begins at 2:00 p.m. mountain time, and can be seen LIVE on FloWrestling. Probable lineups are below.
Both of these wrestlers need a jolt. Meredith's stock is dropping after his loss to Colton McCrystal, and Moreno was just majored by Timmy Box. The smart money says Meredith cruises at home after a week of rest, but Moreno could be in desperation mode and throw the kitchen sink at Meredith.
Mendenhall was one of the few bright spots in the Cowboys' opening dual loss to Nebraska. He picked up a tech, his sixth bonus point win of the year. Straw has comparable margins of victory against the common opponents of these two. Take the over for this match, they're hitting 15 easy.
Weatherspoon entered this season as a major question mark after making the NCAA semis, and then he went on to lose his season opening match. But the ship appears to be righted, particularly when looking at his first period pin over Jadaen Bernstein.
Teague, a redshirt freshman, has been the Cyclones' starter for the past two duals, and Vigoren was in action against Nebraska. Vigoren had an excellent backside run at the Northern Colorado Open, with three straight falls to close the day, as well as a pin in his final match at the Cowboy Open.
Smith finally got his first match of the year against Northern Colorado, putting up over a full period of riding time in a 4-1 win. He lost in sudden victory in last year's dual with the Cowboys, but that was against Tanner Harms. While Eagan has shown some promise this year, Smith is a senior that is very tough on top.

The dual begins at 2:00 p.m. mountain time, and can be seen LIVE on FloWrestling. Probable lineups are below.
125: Gunnar Woodburn (WYO) vs Markus Simmons (ISU)
Woodburn has been up and down this season, with his high point coming in winning the Northern Colorado Open. Simmons has looked solid at the Grand View and Harold Nichols Opens, but the Cyclones did not send out a 125 against Northern Colorado, so it is uncertain if Simmons goes here.133: Ronnie Stevens (WYO) vs No. 5 Earl Hall (ISU)
Hall just missed out on bonus points against Northern Colorado, but likely won't have that problem against Stevens. Both of these wrestlers lost to Nebraska's Eric Montoya, but with Simmons in question, it is imperative Hall pick up bonus in this one.
141: No. 11 Bryce Meredith (WYO) vs Gabe Moreno (ISU)
149: Cole Mendenhall (WYO) vs Chase Straw (ISU)
Mendenhall was one of the few bright spots in the Cowboys' opening dual loss to Nebraska. He picked up a tech, his sixth bonus point win of the year. Straw has comparable margins of victory against the common opponents of these two. Take the over for this match, they're hitting 15 easy.157: Archie Colgan (WYO) vs Colston DiBlasi (ISU)
Colgan just suffered his first loss of the year in the Nebraska dual, while DiBlasi's decision yesterday helped carry the Cyclones over Northern Colorado. It seems as though DiBlasi has taken control of this 157 spot, though we are still only in November.165: Branson Ashworth (WYO) vs No. 19 Dane Pestano (ISU)
Your classic matchup of a guy who started his career at 149 and another who began his at 197 pounds, happens all the time. Ashworth does appear more comfortable after starting the year at 157, but the size disadvantage here will be very noticeable. Pestano trimmed down from 184 a year ago, where he had a winning record. Back-to-back weighins for Pestano may play more of a role in this match than anything technically or strategically.
174: Kyle Pope (WYO) vs No. 14 Lelund Weatherspoon (ISU)
Weatherspoon entered this season as a major question mark after making the NCAA semis, and then he went on to lose his season opening match. But the ship appears to be righted, particularly when looking at his first period pin over Jadaen Bernstein.184: Luke Paine (WYO) vs Carson Powell (ISU)
Powell went for the Cyclones yesterday as it appears Pat Downey is nicked up. It was only Powell's second match at 184 this year, though he was up at that weight last season. Both of these guys lost to Dylan Gabel of Northern Colorado, which makes this match the definition of a tossup.
197: Cody Vigoren (WYO) vs Joseph Teague (ISU)
Teague, a redshirt freshman, has been the Cyclones' starter for the past two duals, and Vigoren was in action against Nebraska. Vigoren had an excellent backside run at the Northern Colorado Open, with three straight falls to close the day, as well as a pin in his final match at the Cowboy Open.
285: Sam Eagan (WYO) vs Quean Smith (ISU)
Smith finally got his first match of the year against Northern Colorado, putting up over a full period of riding time in a 4-1 win. He lost in sudden victory in last year's dual with the Cowboys, but that was against Tanner Harms. While Eagan has shown some promise this year, Smith is a senior that is very tough on top.How To Watch
