The Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic annually showcases the country's top high school talent from the graduating class each year. These wrestlers are not only proving to be prep standouts but are continuing to have success at the collegiate level as well.
If we take a look at the 2017 NCAA Championships, nine of the 10 finals matches featured wrestlers who previously competed in the Dapper Dan/Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic. Three finals matches saw PWC participants go head to head, and nine of the 10 national champions wrestled in the historic event.
Here are this year's NCAA finalists who also participated in the Wrestling Classic; champions are bolded.
125: Darian Cruz (Classic 2013) vs. Ethan Lizak (Classic 2014)
133: Cory Clark (Classic 2012)
141: Dean Heil (Classic 2013) vs. George DiCamillo (Classic 2012)
149: Zain Retherford (Classic 2013)
157: Jason Nolf (Classic 2014)
165: Isaiah Martinez (Classic 2013) vs. Vincenzo Joseph (Classic 2015)

The 2017 Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic takes place this Saturday, beginning at 4 PM EST when the WPIAL team faces the all-star team from Georgia. The main event follows immediately and is being streamed LIVE on FloWrestling, beginning at 6 PM EST.
