It seems to be that time of the year when the top recruit change their minds about their commitments. On Tuesday, three-time Pennsylvania state champion Gavin Teasdale changed his pledge from Iowa to Penn State, and now on Wednesday No. 2-ranked prep national champion Michael Beard has changed his mind about attending Northwestern.

Beard made the announcement via Twitter about his change of heart.

I have decided to decommit from Northwestern University. I can't thank them enough for the opportunity but I want to explore other options.

 Now that he is back on the market, Beard is looking at a few other schools. However, he is not ruling out the possibility of ending up with the Wildcats. His top three schools include Northwestern, Penn State, and Cornell. Beard projects as a 184- to 197-pounder on the next level and is currently the fifth-ranked recruit on the Class of 2018 Big Board.
