If you haven't noticed, Tony Ramos is one clutch individual. How clutch is he, you ask? Well, Ramos came from behind in three of his five matches this past weekend at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas to regain his possession of the 57kg weight class. He also had a close 5-5 criteria win over Frank Perrelli in the quarters in which he had to score in the final seconds to advance.

Take a look at Ramos' run to the top, which culminated in his best comeback performance of the weekend as he defeated Nahshon Garrett. But this weekend was just a snippet of how clutch he really is. Throughout his career, both college and professionally, Ramos has been known to come up with the win when he needed to. Back in the days when he ruled Carver-Hawkeye, he scored a late takedown to defeat fellow 2017 Open Champ Jordan Oliver. A few years later he was able to get the job done in the NCAA semifinals against AJ Schopp late in the match.

Then the 2015 Open, he scored a come from behind win over Joe Colon in the semifinals.


He just keeps coming out on top in so many situation. Ramos has had a truly clutch career, and it was on full display this weekend in Vegas.

Finals: Ramos vs Nahshon Garrett

Ramos completed his clutch campaign with a huge comeback to win the title.

Semifinals: Ramos vs Nathan Tomasello

Ramos scored his first takedown late in the bout to take the lead on criteria before holding off Tomasello's attacks to get the win.

Quarterfinals: Ramos vs Frank Perrelli

T-Ram struck first with a takedown and took that lead into the break, but Perrelli came out firing in the second to tie it up. Ultimately, Ramos came out on top, but it took an action-packed second period and a late score by Ramos to get it done.

Round of 16: Ramos vs Roman Bravo-Young

Bravo-Young surprised Ramos with a quick slide-by to take the lead, but after that Ramos gave the youngster a full dose of what it's like on the senior level.

Round of 32: Ramos vs Kyle Pedretti

Ramos gets off to a fast and dominant start with a quick tech fall.
