Jordan Oliver and Zain Retherford Enjoy A Spirited Exchange Of Tweets
Jordan Oliver and Zain Retherford exchange tweets after Retherford was named USAW athlete of the week.
It's been a tumoltous last couple weeks for 2017 U.S. Open 65kg champion Jordan Oliver. After earning a bye to the best-of-three finals of the World Team Trials, Oliver was forced to withdraw from the event due to testing positive for a banned stimulant at the Open.
Oliver was unable to try and earn a spot on what would be his first senior freestyle world team, having to instead watch two World Team Trials finalists he beat at the U.S. Open, Zain Retherford and Frank Molinaro.
Watch Oliver's semifinal victory at the U.S. Open over Retherford here, and Oliver's U.S. Open finals victory over Molinaro here.
Retherford needed three matches at the trials finals but eventually emerged the victor, punching his ticket to the UWW World Championships in Paris.

USA Wrestling named Retherford their "Athlete of the Week" in a tweet, which Oliver replied to with the tweet found below.

Oliver is hoping to successfully appeal his positive test and secure a special wrestle-off with Retherford which would ultimately decide the 65kg men's freestyle world team spot in time for Paris.
