Like plenty of the matchups at Who's #1, the history behind the battles is just as good as what goes down on the mat.
When it comes to this year's 160-pound bout between No. 1 David Carr and No. 2 Joe Lee -- a pair of multiple-time champions from Ohio and Indiana, respectively -- all signs are pointing to another must-watch clash on Sunday at the Snakepit in Bethlehem, PA.
Two years ago in Akron, Ohio, Carr and Lee met in the finals of the Cadet World Team Trials in a scramble-tastic best-of-three series (watch that match below).
Ultimately, Carr won the spot on the world team and went on to claim the bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships.
In their next meeting this April at Junior Nationals in Las Vegas, Lee showed that he had erased that gap by nearly teching Carr in a 14-5 win in the semifinals.
However, they gave us the best installment of their rivalry in July in Fargo. In a back-and-forth battle, the lead changed hands more than five times during the bout until Carr came out with a close win to make the finals.
And all that sets us up for this weekend. The difference is, for the first time in this seesaw rivalry, they will be wrestling folkstyle.
