Fired assistant coach Kevin Roberts sues Oregon State for $18,000 in damages, claiming he was deprived of his due process rights.
Kevin Roberts was an assistant wrestling coach at Oregon State for 11 years before he was fired Aug. 8 for allegedly either participating in derogatory comments directed at one of the wrestlers on the team or for neglecting his supervisory rule. Roberts is now suing his former employer for "depriving him of his due process rights, and violated the terms of his employment contract."
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Eugene, OR, was first reported on by The Oregonian.
Roberts' previous annual salary was $108,000, and he had signed an employment contract in June that would've run until June 30, 2018. Roberts is suing for $18,000 in lost wages and economic damages.
Beavers wrestlers earned 10 All-American honors during Roberts' tenure.
