Things got testy between Thomas Gilman and Brent Metcalf at Wartburg College's annual preseason rally, Fight Night, on Wednesday at Joe's Knight Hawk in Waverly, Iowa.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes wrestlers were among the attendees of the kickoff event, hosted by the NCAA Division III powerhouse and defending national champion, Wartburg College. Other invited speakers included Dan Gable, Iowa State head coach Kevin Dresser, Northern Iowa head coach Doug Schwab, USA Wrestling national freestyle developmental coach Kevin Jackson, and several other Iowa wrestling luminaries.
At the end of the event, Metcalf -- a former Hawkeye Wrestling Club member and current Iowa State volunteer assistant coach -- took umbrage with comments made by Gilman, a current Hawkeye Wrestling Club competitor. IA Wrestle's Tony Hager tweeted a video of the contentious exchange.
