Gable Steveson, Patrick McKee, and Alex Lloyd are wrestling at Daktronics, but how?
One of the new NCAA rules is getting put into action early this season after three high schoolers -- No. 1 Gable Steveson, No. 2 Patrick McKee, and No. 4 Alex Lloyd -- entered to compete at the Daktronics Open, hosted by South Dakota State in Brookings, SD, this Sunday.
Steveson and McKee are both verbally committed to Minnesota, which is sending 35 of its wrestlers to Frost Arena this weekend, including Steveson's and McKee's brothers, Bobby Steveson and Mitch McKee. Meanwhile, Lloyd will be getting his first feel of his new home at SDSU, where he is verbally committed to attend.
Steveson and Lloyd have both taken on some college competition already. Lloyd battled with Pat Lugo at the Junior World Team Trials. He had the early lead before Lugo took over to get the win. Steveson added another win over Lehigh heavyweight Jordan Wood in the trials finals.

This will be the first instance in a very long time that we see high schoolers wrestling in a college open, but it might not be the last. Who else will we see stepping up to get a taste of college competition?
