Returning runner-up and top-ranked Joey Silva will look to make a run back to finals this year after coming up short against Spencer Lee a season ago. Silva claimed the top spot in the country with a win over Roman Bravo-Young at Who’s #1 and then won his third straight Super 32 title.

A gang of returning placers are looking to stand in the way of Silva and his title hunt, including one returning champ in Gabe Tagg, a fellow returning runner-up in Ryan Anderson — who also claimed a S32 title this year — and Jesse Vasquez, last year’s runner-up to Tagg and this year’s S32 runner-up to Silva.
Real Woods, who took a loss to Silva last year at the Journeymen Classic, will bring an incredible amount of firepower to the title race as well.
State champs Josh Saunders and Carson Manville are expected to be in the mix. Manville was an eighth-grade state champ in Minnesota last year before making the move to Wyoming Seminary (PA) this year, while Saunders won a title as a freshman in Missouri.
Lastly, returning placers Michael Madara of Blair and St. Edward’s Matt Kazimir, who were both sixth at 120 and 126, respectively, are also slated to be at Ironman.
In short, the depth and experience at this weight class makes it the toughest bracket of the tournament.
