Weeklong Initiative Encourages Athletes To 'Give Wrestling A Shot'

FloWrestling's viewers already know about the greatness of wrestling as a sport and why it's so beneficial to get involved in as an activity.

But what I think we all want is for more people to be exposed to wrestling, participate in wrestling, and become fans of the sport. This is what Give Wrestling A Shot is all about.

The weeklong initiative by USA Wrestling is offering athletes the opportunity to attend wrestling practices at sanctioned clubs from Jan. 15-21 at no cost and without having to purchase a USA Wrestling card.

All a USA Wrestling-sanctioned club has to do is register here, and it will be on a list for any potential new wrestlers who sign up for the program to see and choose from next week. Any athlete who wants to give wrestling a shot can register here.

We want to encourage as many clubs as possible to do this and work to spread the word in their community. Wrestlers from those clubs are encouraged to each bring a friend who wants to give wrestling a shot. While we won't be able to convert every kid who tries it, if we can get a couple kids at each club hooked, then we are making progress.

These highly successful people all got their start in the sport and attribute much of their success in life to having wrestled.
