Jordan Burroughs Offers Up Super Match With Frankie Chamizo
Jordan Burroughs took to Twitter to offer up a super match with Italian world champion Frankie Chamizo
You can count Jordan Burroughs among the many who watched the battle of #1-ranked college wrestlers in Brookings, SD, on Thursday night and came away feeling like the matchup was a bounding step forward for the sport.
The five-time world and Olympic champion at 74kg took to Twitter after the match between Wyoming's Bryce Meredith and South Dakota State's Seth Gross ended and extended an invitation for a "super match" to two-time Italian world champion Frankie Chamizo, who earned gold in Paris last year at 70kg.
I’m inspired to wrestle a super match/world #1 now. What do you say @ChamizoFrank ? Shall we?

Obviously, this matchup is nowhere near materializing but just think of the possibilities.
We're talking about two of the most dynamic athletes who have ever stepped on a matted surface putting it all on the line for nothing more than bragging rights and the advancement of the sport (and probably a decent chunk of change).
I can't think about this type of matchup without quickly running through the logistical details briefly in my head. Where should this epic battle take place? Beat The Streets? Who's Number 1? How much money will it take? One would have to assume that a combined seven world championships does not come cheap.
Whether a matchup of this magnitude could actually come to fruition is debatable, but for now, the wrestling community will simply wait on bated breath for Chamizo's reply.
