Making Sense Of The Pre-Conference Rankings & Polls

The conference tournaments are right around the corner, with the NCAA Championships following hot on their heels. Just before the post season, a trio of rankings of individual wrestlers came out: our own humble national top 20, an NCAA coaches poll, and the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index (RPI).

We took our various rankings and applied hypothetical tournament scoring points to the rankings, factoring in advancement and placement points, but not bonus points, the same method we use for our tournament rankings

We then parsed our data by teams, conference, and grade — the latter only for our top 20 rankings — and broke it down by weight class in the following tables.
