Edinboro Sees 2 Starters Transfer: Russell To Minnesota, Geer To OK State
Edinboro is losing to starters to transfers, All-American Sean Russell to Minnesota and Dakota Geer to Oklahoma State.
Two Edinboro starters will be wrestling for different teams this fall. Sean Russell, an All-American at 125 pounds, is going to Minnesota to use his final year of eligibility as a Golden Gopher, and 184-pounder Dakota Geer will transfer to Oklahoma State with sophomore eligibility.
Russell and Geer are the biggest departures from the Fighting Scots since Tim Flynn, head coach at Edinboro for 21 years, announced last month that he was leaving the program for West Virginia.
Georgia native Sean Russell has manned the 125-pound weight class for the Scots for the last three years, qualifying for the NCAA tournament each season. Russell reached the podium once, placing seventh in 2017. Russell's presence in Minnesota will bolster the lineup, as Ethan Lizak and the rest of the Gophers' lower weights move up. It will also allow incoming freshman Pat McKee to redshirt.

Geer, a two-time FloNationals champion from Franklin, Pennsylvania, qualified for the NCAA tournament as a true freshman. He was eliminated in the round of 16 in 2017, then spent all of last season redshirting.
Keegan Moore qualified for the NCAA tournament last year for Oklahoma State and will presumably be battling for Geer for the starting spot for the Cowboys next fall. Seth Duckworth at PistolsFiring has more on Geer and the Cowboys here.
