A Few New Bucs: Blair Adds Huge Studs

Blair just made some upgrades that are going to make them even harder to beat next season.

I’m not sure you can consider this reloading. In my mind they upgraded to a bigger weapon as they get three huge transfers.

California state champ Dom Mata and the brothers Ferrari of Texas will be rocking the navy blue of the Blair Buccaneers next season. Certainly the Bucs’ lineup is already stacked with talent from top to bottom and the addition of these three studs is definitely going to keep their very high ranking intact.

So let’s take a look at these three and see what they bring to the table.

Dom Mata

Weight: 160

Old School: Poway (CA)

Ranking: 7

Mata should be a great replacement for three-time National Prep Champion Andrew Merola. He comes to the team after claiming a California State title at 152. As impressive as it is to win a Cali state title, let’s add in the fact that he won the title without giving up a single point.

Anthony Ferrari

Weight: 113

Old School: Allen (TX)

Ranking: 7

We most recently saw him in the finals at the Cadet World Team Trials where he lost the best-of-three series to eventual Cadet World Champion Matt Ramos. However, his most notable wins came over Ryan Miller, who will now be his teammate, Wyatt Yapoujian, and Carter Young en route to making the finals. He’s currently sporting a No. 7 ranking at 113 and will certainly make their lightweight crew even stronger.

AJ Ferrari

Weight: 195

Old School: Allen (TX)

Ranking: 1

This is the biggest addition for the Bucs as they add the No. 1-ranked 195-pounder in the country. Ferrari just finished with the bronze at the Cadet World Championships. Last year he won an Ironman title at 182 and then made the move up to 195 and won a Texas state title. He’s been pretty much flawless, and like I said, will be a huge addition to the squad.
