#2 Greg Diakomihalis Commits To Cornell
#2 Greg Diakomihalis will join his older brother Yianni at Cornell as he has verbally committed to wrestle for the Big Red.
On the first day junior prospects could be visited by college coaches, the first major domino has fallen. Greg Diakomihalis has verbally committed to wrestle for Cornell.
Currently ranked second at 113, Diakomihalis is Cornell's first commitment from the Class of 2020. The three-time New York state champ from Hilton will be staying in-state and joining his older Yianni in Ithaca.
Diakomihalis projects as a 125 at the next level, where we currently rate him as the fourth best prospect in the country at that weight. He'll take over after Noah Baughman graduates, and he'll follow in a long line of excellent Cornell 125s that include Troy Nickerson, Nahshon Garrett, Travis Lee, and Frankie Perrelli.
We mentioned the other day that new NCAA rules designate September 1st as the first day college coaches can make in-home visits to junior recruits or that those junior prospects can make official visits. Diakomihalis is #25 on the Class of 2020 Big Board, the highest rated junior from the Empire State and just the fourth wrestler in the Top-40 to announce his verbal.
Over the course of his high school career, he has placed third in Akron and Fargo, and finished sixth at Super 32. Just over a month from now on Sunday, October 7th, you can watch him in action at Who's #1. Buy your WNO tickets HERE.
