Meet The Contenders: #1 Jakason Burks vs #2 Greg Diakomihalis
Both of them are so active that this match will be a scramblefest.
Jakason Burks has a big move arsenal and Greg Diakomihalis is nasty from an elbow tie. Burks is a walking warning sign when it comes to big throws while Greg D doesn’t always need to manufacture his own offense in order to score.
#1 - Jakason Burks (NE)
- 2018 Fargo Champ
- 2018 Cadet Greco World Team Member
- 2018 Cadet WTT Champion
We've seen him in both Freestyle and Greco and unsurprisingly he came out on top in both those tournaments. Fargo is where he really shined. A few takeaways from his performance is that he comes forward, he attacks and is always looking for big points.

#2 - Greg Diakomihalis (NY)
3-time NY State Champ
Fargo All-American
3rd at Cadet WTT
He’s really grown on his feet and his attacks have been trending upward. Let’s hope we don’t get the wait and see Greg D and instead get the elbow off leg attacker. However, he can also scramble and knows when to seize the opportunity to pass a leg and score off his opponents shots.

How do they matchup?
We’ve seen Burks’ high flying offense in Fargo and Akron and I’m sure that will transfer to the Folkstyle scene. Where I see Greg D having the advantage is in the ties. He doesn’t waste a lot time there. He will work to get elbow control and shortly after he’s gone. Burks will have to be careful when it comes to using the same amount of pressure he normally does because Greg D has a nasty little dump that will be in full effect off that forward motion. But I’ve got a strong feeling that this match will have a lot of action on their feet. Both of them are so active that this match will be a scramblefest, or as Zeb Miller would say “two towels in a dryer.”
