Sunday November 10th | 10 AM Eastern

Part of a two day event this weekend in Troy, NY, Saturday covers the duals and Sunday will be the round robin tournament called the Collegiate Classic. We're going to be covering some of the potential matchups we'll see in Saturday's duals first.

The duals are going to be on six mats, and the pairings are already set. You can check out the full schedule here, but the cadence is going to be a dual every two hours on each mat: one at 10am, one at noon, one at 2pm, and the last one at 4pm.

Let's go in chronological order so you can plan out your Saturday morning.

10 AM

Mat 1: #6 Chad Red, Nebraska vs Matt Findlay, Utah Valley (141)

This Utah Valley/Nebraska dual has several interesting matchups, starting with All-American Chad Red against Matt Findlay of Utah Valley. You might remember this one from Akron 2017, when Findlay was controversially awarded a four after Red collapsed from an apparent head injury. Not sure if coach Snyder and Red have revenge on their minds, but it's hard for us to forget how this one played out.

Mat 1: #9 Isaiah White, Nebraska vs #15 Demetrius Romero, Utah Valley (165)

One of a handful of ranked matchups happening on Saturday, this is a rematch from the first round at NCAAs. White won that one 9-4, but it could have been a little closer than the score suggests, as Romero was hit three times for stalling. If White can control the match like that and earn riding time again, he should cruise to another win.

Mat 1: #11 Mikey Labriola, Nebraska vs Kimball Bastian, Utah Valley (174)

We've never seen this one before, but a good test to start the season for Labriola against NCAA qualifier Bastian. Bastian did not compete at the  Cowboy Open and will be seeing his first action of the year, while Labriola dominated his way through the Dakronics Open, with a pin, two techs, a major, and a 10-5 win over Devin Skatzka.

12 PM

Mat 1: #9 Stephen Loiseau, Drexel vs #17 Eric Schultz, Nebraska (197)

Another one we haven't seen before, but a solid Top-20 matchup to kick off the afternoon. Loiseau is an absolute pain to wrestle and one of the funkier 197s in the country.

Mat 3: #8 Montorie Bridges, Wyoming vs Brian Courtney, Virginia (133)

Courtney picked up his first varsity win with a 4-2 victory over Garrett Pepple in the dual against Indiana. Bridges opened up his season by winning the Cowboy Open, though only one of his four wins was against another Division 1 wrestler.

Mat 3: #10 Branson Ashworth, Wyoming vs #20 Cam Coy, Virginia (165)

Coy started his career as a 157, which is what many expected him to be in college. But he moved up to 165 in January, competing at the Appalachian Open and National Collegiate Open. As a two-time qualifier who was seeded both times, Ashworth will be Coy's toughest opponent at 165 to date.

Mat 4: #3 Anthony Ashnault, Rutgers vs Matt Zovistoski, App State (149)

Zovistoski is getting battle tested early, having faced #15 Austin O'Connor in the Hokie Open finals and now slated to face 3x AA Ashnault tomorrow. Both of these wrestlers redshirted last year and are getting back into the swing of a normal season routine in the second weekend of the year.

Mat 4: Matt Correnti, Rutgers vs Randall Diabe, App State (197)

A couple NCAA qualifiers who have never wrestled, both of whom could work their way into the rankings over the course of the season. Correntit spent last season redshirting at heavyweight, and Diabe broke through to make his way to Cleveland.

2 PM

Mat 1: #5 Zeke Moisey, Nebraska vs #7 Louie Hayes, Virginia

One of three good matchups in this dual, all of which have lines on BetDSI. Nebraska is favored in all of them, and with this Hayes matchup the concern is if Hayes is wrestling this weekend after missing last Saturday's dual against Indiana.

Mat 1: #6 Chad Red, Nebraska vs Sammy Krivus, Virginia

Krivus fell out of the rankings after losing to Paul Konrath, so this represents a chance for him to get back on the horse. This one will likely be low scoring and Red might have to get after him early, as Krivus likes to hang back.

Mat 1: #6 Isaiah White, Nebraska vs #20 Cam Coy, Virginia

It's going to be a full day for Cam Coy. Right after taking on Branson Ashworth, he gets ZayZay. Last year, White represented a fun dark horse or sleeper pick, but now he's ascended a bit in the 165 pecking order and is considered more of a sure thing to place at NCAAs. Putting away a guy like Coy early would reinforce that.
