It came down to a choice between three schools for Guida, North Carolina, Rutgers and Lehigh. It was a difficult decision for Guida to make, as he told FloWrestling the following:
The top 3 schools that it came down to were Rutgers, UNC, and Lehigh. But it was untimely down to Rutger’s and UNC. Both schools have very good wrestling and I liked the kids on both teams. I felt that the campus, weather, and academics were a little better at UNC though. It was very tough decision and a hard phone call to the coaches at Rutgers being that I am from New Jersey and train with them all the time. When I took my visit to UNC I felt it would be the best fit for me. It will be awesome to get to roll with coaches like Coleman Scott and Tony Ramos which will gives me a variety of styles. I cannot wait to be apart of UNC’s program.
Guida is the Tar Heels' first top 100 commit from the class of 2020. Guida projects as a 125-pounder for now, but has the frame to potentially grow into higher weight classes in the future.
