From pre-season speculation as to what weight Nick Suriano and Daton Fix were going to the weekly upsets, 133 has been the biggest story of the season. As we approach the end of the regular season we wanted to take you on a trip down memory lane and recap the madness it has brought us this year.

Before we go week by week through the madness, let’s take a look at how the pre-season rankings compare to this week’s rankings.
September 17, 2018 | February 19, 2019 |
---|---|
Seth Gross | Stevan Micic |
Stevan Micic | Daton Fix |
Tariq Wilson | Austin DeSanto |
Luke Pletcher | Nick Surinao |
Ethan Lizak | Micky Phillippi |
Scotty Parker | Luke Pletcher |
Montorie Bridges | Ethan Lizak |
Austin DeSanto | Austin Gomez |
Daton Fix | Roman Bravo-Young |
John Erneste | John Erneste |
Korbin Myers | Chas Tucker |
Dylan Duncan | Korbin Myers |
Sean Nickell | Tariq Wilson |
Rico Montoya | Montorie Bridges |
Colin Valdiviez | Noah Gonsor |
Josh Terao | Ben Thornton |
Vito Arujau | Cam Sykora |
Micky Phillippi | Gary Wayne Harding |
Matt Schmitt | Sean Nickell |
Cam Sykora | Matt Schmitt |
Obviously, the biggest difference in the September and February rankings is the absence of NCAA champion Seth Gross due to injury. Two-time All-American Scotty Parker is also gone from the pre-season rankings due to a season-ending injury as well.
The weight lost two hammers, Rico Montoya and Vito Arujau to 125, but gained some serious firepower when NCAA finalist Nick Suriano bumped up from 125.
Maybe the biggest story of the weight is the success of the freshmen. Daton Fix, Roman Bravo-Young, Austin Gomez, and Micky Phillippi have all made their impact felt and find themselves ranked in the top 10 heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Nick Suriano Enters The Mix
We believed it would happen, but got confirmation when NCAA finalist Nick Suriano took the mat at 133 continuing to add to the depth of the weight. VIEW NOVEMBER 5 RANKINGS
Watch Surinao's first match up at 133.
Daton Fix Arrives
The first two big moments of the year occurred on the third weekend of the season and both involved Daton Fix. The first happened when the anticipated showdown between Seth Gross and Daton Fix didn't take place, and then the next day Fix announced his presence by beating two-time All-American and NCAA finalist Ethan Lizak. Fix jumped from #10 up to #6.
Returning All-American Montorie Bridges also fell out of the top 10 after a second loss to an unranked opponent. Bridges not being able to climb back into the top 10 since shows the depth of the weight. VIEW NOVEMBER 19 RANKINGS
Micky Phillippi Makes His Move
Otherwise know as the weekend the weight became madness. This was mostly due to CKLV. Micky Phillippi took one of the biggest jumps you’ll ever see climbing from #17 to #5 thanks to wins over Cam Sykora, Ethan Lizak, and Luke Pletcher.
Watch Phillippi beat Lizak.
Austin Gomez also took a big jump after he went into Carver-Hawkeye and beat Austin DeSanto.
Chas Tucker and Noah Gonser also made their rankings debut and haven’t looked back since. Tucker knocked off Dylan Duncan and Ben Thornton at CKLV while Gonser took out Montorie Bridges. VIEW DECEMBER 3 RANKINGS

Stevan Micic Takes Control
Stevan Micic claims the #1 spot after we removed Seth Gross from the rankings due to inactivity. Daton Fix takes another jump from #6 to #2 after beating Nick Suriano in one of the weirdest matches you will ever see.
Austin DeSanto also began his climb back up the rankings by soundly beating Ethan Lizak.

Regular Season Finale Fireworks
A second-period escape and tough third-period ride out earned Daton Fix the win in his monster showdown with Austin DeSanto.
Fresh off wins over Gary Wayne Harding and Korbin Myers, Chas Tucker got his third straight win over a ranked opponent when he edged Luke Pletcher. Tariq Wilson wrestled for the first time in nearly a month and beat #12 Korbin Myers. A healthy Wilson makes 133 even tougher.

In case you needed to be convinced further how good this weight is the GOAT, John Smith, recently called this the deepest weight he's seen in his coaching career.
