Cadet World Teamer Catka Commits To Tech

You can say 'biggest' in the literal sense. PA mammoth Hunter Catka might be the 'biggest' blue chipper in the 2020 class.

From Sun Valley high school outside Philadelphia, Catka just rolled through FloNationals and the Akron Cadet Trials to make the US World Team headed to Sofia Bulgaria for the World Championships in August.

Catka is ranked #2 in the country at Heavyweight behind Nash Hutmacher (SD), who is widely anticipated to commit to Nebraska for football. Prior to the freestyle season, Catka was conservatively ranked #32 on the 2020 Big Board after he was injured at the state tournament. That ranking will most certainly go up now.

Though Hunter hadn't officially released a public school list, his father Sean intimated to us at FloNationals that three of the schools in the final mix were Penn, Lehigh, and Virginia Tech and that he was interested in studying sports medicine.

Now we have our answer: arguably the best Heavyweight on the market is going to be a Hokie.

It makes for an excellent Tech class that looks like a Top 5 group for 2020. Catka joins fellow #2 and Pennsylvania Sammy Hillegas (141/149), along with #2-Eddie Ventresca (125/NJ) and #10-Sammy Fisher (184/VA), all of whom are also Top 100 in 2020.

Congrats to the Catka family and the Hokie Wrestling community.
