#3 Seth Shumate Staying In-State, Verbals To Ohio State
Fargo champ and Akron runner-up Seth Shumate has verbally committed to wrestle for the Ohio State Buckeyes in college.
Seth Shumate is one of the best young upperweight prospects in the country, and he has already made his college decision.
I would like to make it official: following my high school career, I will pursue my academic and athletic goals at The Ohio State University at 184/197. The coaching staff, training partners, and opportunity that The Ohio State has to offer are second to none. pic.twitter.com/fAXBiAksWT

Currently ranked #3 at 195, Shumate has verbally committed to wrestle for Ohio State. He anticipates being a 184 or 197 at the next level.
A Division 1 state champ in Ohio this year for Dublin Coffman, Shumate looks to be a monster recruit for the Buckeyes. He continued his dominance in the spring and summer, winning NHSCAs, making the Akron finals, and winning Fargo (in both styles).
A rising sophomore, Shumate is rated our third-best prospect from the Class of 2022. He is the first to commit of several Ohio natives tOSU is after at the moment, which includes Who's #1 athletes Victor Voinovich and Paddy Gallagher.
Factoring in a potential redshirt year, Buckeye fans may not see him in the Scarlet and Gray until the 2023-24 season. That means both Kollin Moore and Gavin Hoffman will have graduated, but his weight may be determined by someone like Braxton Amos, who has Ohio State in his final five.
Shumate is the first wrestler from the Class of 2022 to announce his post-high school plans.
