#29 Caden McCrary Commits To North Carolina
Top 30 junior Caden McCrary comes off the board.
North Carolina's Coleman Scott and Tony Ramos are picking up steam on the recruiting trail.
In our just-released 2020 Mid-Year Recruiting Class Rankings, we tabbed them ninth with six overall recruits and one of just 14 schools in the country with four top 200 committed wrestlers.
Last weekend they hosted several prominent junior prospects including Iowa's Drake Ayala and Caleb Rathjen and New Jersey state champ Brandon Green. Today they struck their first commitment for the Class of 2021.
Caden McCrary of Woodland High School (GA) pledged to the Tar Heels and checks in at #29 with a fantastic start to his career. A two-time state champ, McCrary also reached the finals of NHSCA's as both a freshman and a sophomore, splitting bouts with Missouri's Ethan Miller, this year's Fargo Cadet runner-up.
Most recently, McCrary was the second-highest placing underclassmen at Super 32 at 138lbs. He was the highest placing underclassmen in freestyle at Fargo Juniors as well.
Last December, he beat #35-Bretli Reyna, who just committed to Iowa, in the finals of the Knockout Tournament in Florida.
McCrary projects as a 141/149lber at the next level, perhaps filling the shoes of the Tar Heels' 2019 NCAA freshman All-American Austin O'Connor, who's currently ranked #1 in the nation at 149.
