When talking about high school wrestling, the first states that come to mind are Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey — states rich with culture, history, talent, and Olympians.

One school that would like to enter that conversation is Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, a program rich with its own culture, history, and talent. The Patriots have eight state championships and 48 individual champions. In the eight years Nebraska has been wrestling in NSAA Dual Wrestling Championships HQ, Millard South has placed top three in six times and won four of the dual titles.

Here are three wrestlers who give Millard South more reason to expect another banner year.

1. Isaac Trumble | Senior

Isaac Trumble comes into the season as a returning state champion. He was a double All-American at Fargo, finishing fourth in Freestyle and third in Greco. He finished third overall at Super 32 last month. The 195-pound wrestler is currently ranked ninth by FloWrestling and is #59 on the 2020 big board. He is committed to wrestle for NC State. The senior class also returns state qualifiers Blake Smith (145), Alex White (160), and Chris Wortman (285).

2. Conor Knopick, Caleb Coyle & Scott Roberson | Juniors

The junior class is led by UWW Cadet Greco world team member Conor Knopick. Knopick finished third in the state last year. He finished fifth at Super 32. Knopick is currently ranked 16th at 126 pounds by FloWrestling. He is also #63 on the 2021 big board.

The junior class also features Caleb Coyle. He was state runner-up at 106 pounds as a freshman and sophomore. He is also a double All-American at Fargo finishing sixth in freestyle and fifth in Greco.

The Patriots also add transfer Scott Roberson. He was the 120-pound state champion in Utah last year, and also won titles in freestyle and Greco.

3. Antrell Taylor & Tyler Antoniak | Sophomores

The younger the Patriots get, the stronger they are. Sophomore standouts Antrell Taylor and Tyler Antoniak were both U15 world team members. Both wrestlers were also runner-up in state as freshmen.

Taylor is currently ranked 12th in the country at 132 pounds and is #10 on the class of 2022 big board. Taylor was second in Fargo in Cadet Freestyle. He was also runner-up at the U15 World Championships in freestyle. Antoniak returns to the team as a world champion. This summer he won the World Championships in U15 Greco.

Incoming freshman Joel Adams will be a big added piece to the lineup. He enters his freshman campaign as a bronze medalist at the U15 Greco World Championships.

Most of the team wrestles year-round for the Patriots and for MWC Wrestling Academy. The Patriots are lead by Nate Olson. He's looking forward to a big year out of his young team.

"Our kids wrestle year-round and train in freestyle and Greco to keep their skills sharp," Olson said. "They are never afraid to go against the best competition or go to the best tournaments. I have to give a lot of credit to the kids' parents and to my assistants Jay and Todd Meneely. My favorite thing about this team — they are constantly learning. They take the losses as a chance to grow. They watch film and listen to coaches to game plan moving foreword."

It will be a big year for the Patriots, a team full of youth that is built for the long run.
