Gable Steveson Will Not Be Charged
Local authorities said there was "inadequate evidence" to prosecute Minnesota wrestlers Gable Steveson and Dylan Martinez.
Gable Steveson and Dylan Martinez will not be charged for the crimes they were arrested for back in June. According to the Star Tribune, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Friday in a news conference that there was “inadequate evidence” to prosecute the case.
Steveson and Martinez were arrested in June for suspicion of criminal sexual conduct. They were released from jail pending the investigation, which now appears to have concluded with no charges being filed against either student-athlete.
Steveson had been practicing with the Gophers but had not been able to compete with the team per the policy of the University of Minnesota. Since Steveson is no longer under investigation, he can presumably return to varsity action in the second semester.

Alternatively, Steveson could remain on redshirt, as the NCAA runner-up competed as a true freshman last season.
Steveson won the Bill Farrell's men's freestyle 125kg division a little over a month, and as such has qualified for the Olympic Team Trials in April.
