6 Top-10 Upsets in Week 12!
Week 12 saw six top-10 upsets plus multiple upset wins for Nebraska, Ohio State, and Oklahoma State. These are the biggest upset stories of the week.

In Week 12 of NCAA wrestling, six top-10 wrestlers went down, and Nebraska, Ohio State, and Oklahoma State all had multiple upsets. Check out the biggest upset stories and then read through the list of all the upsets we could find.

#14 Schultz Takes Out #3 Warner
Three of the biggest upsets of the week happened in the Nebraska vs Iowa dual, and the Huskers had two of them. The biggest upset of that dual numerically came at 197 where Nebraska's #14 Eric Schultz beat #3 Jacob Warner.
Not only was Warner ranked ahead of Schultz, but he also had two wins over the Husker a season ago. Most recently, Warner beat Schultz 7-5 in overtime for third place at the Big Ten Championships.
This weekend's matchup was another tight one, but Schultz forced the action and earned a takedown in the closing seconds of the match to take the win. Nebraska's official Twitter account tweeted a highlight of the closing seconds of that match.

#10 Abe Assad Proves He's For Real Against #5 Venz
Iowa's true freshman Abe Assad had his redshirt pulled last weekend for duals against Indiana and Purdue. This came on the heels of his runner-up finish at Midlands. Assad's first match in Carver-Hawkeye Arena was also his first big test as an Iowa starter as he had Nebraska All-American #5 Taylor Venz.
Assad attempted a headlock early in the match, but Venz defended to take an early lead. Assad had a takedown in the second period to tie the match and a third-period takedown gave him the lead.
Assad's 6-4 win over Venz confirms what the Iowa coaching staff already believed: Assad, even as a true freshman, is ready to make an impact on a national level at 184.
#8 Chad Red Jumbles 141 Rankings with Win Over #3 Murin
Even though Chad Red entered this match as the lower-ranked wrestler, he may have actually been the favorite in the match after knocking off Murin 4-1 to earn All-American honors a season ago.
Red got his hand raised again this weekend with a 6-2 win that included two takedowns. This was Murin's first loss of the season and a result that could cause confusion in this week's rankings.
This Red over Murin result isn't all that surprising, and it reminds us that the 141 field is deep with a lot of parity this year, so rankings certainly don't mean guaranteed points in March.
Unranked Rea Pins #6 Demas
West Virginia's Caleb Rea entered Sunday's dual against Oklahoma with an 11-11 record and very little indication that he was ready to notch a win over Dom Demas. That didn't matter to Rea, though, as he pinned the highest-returning finisher from last year's NCAA tournament.
Demas earned the first takedown in the match, but Rea escaped and then earned a takedown of his own. Once on top, Rea turned and subsequently pinned #6 Demas for the biggest upset of the entire weekend.
Rea and the Mountaineers pushed Oklahoma but ultimately fell 18-22 to the Sooners.
Jacob Allen Over #10 Farro
Up until this weekend, Navy's Jacob Allen had yet to start in a dual for the Midshipmen this season. He made the most of his first opportunity by winning 7-6 over Lehigh's #10 Nick Farro.
Allen was one of two wrestlers for Navy to earn upsets. At 197, Jacob Koser earned a 6-5 victory over #19 Jake Jakobsen. Those wins wouldn't be enough for Navy, who dropped their dual to Lehigh 23-9, but they are positive signs for a developing team.
Cleary and Jordan Earn Upsets for Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes are in the hunt for a top-four trophy, and in this weekend's dual against Illinois, they saw upsets at 157 and 184, two weight classes where they haven't seen that kind of productivity so far this season.
At 157, unranked Elijah Cleary had a marathon match with #22 Eric Barone. In tie-breakers, Cleary earned an escape and then followed it up with a ride out for the 4-3 win.
Rocky Jordan got his first upset of the season this weekend as well with a 6-4 decision over #11 Zach Braunagel at 184. Jordan has a 24-4 record but had yet to register a ranked win until this weekend.
Hone, Sheets and Montalvo Earn Upsets for Oklahoma State
The Oklahoma State Cowboys had a trio of upsets in their 30-10 win over Pitt this weekend.
At 141, Dusty Hone beat #20 Cole Matthews 7-1; at 157, Wyatt Sheets beat #25 Taleb Rahmani 9-8, and at 184, Anthony Montalvo took out #7 Nino Bonaccorsi 6-4. All three of these Cowboys were unranked heading into the weekend.
Oklahoma State is a team that has been looking for consistency this season both in terms of personnel and in terms of results. This set of wins is a positive sign or a developing Cowboy squad.
