The seeding rules changed once again this year. In 2019, they seeded all 14 guys if a weight had eight or more automatic qualifier allocations. This year, they are seeding every entry at all 10 weights no matter what the allocations look like.

The top four guys in the conference are all in the Top-5 nationally. The next four are all nationally ranked, but there are only seven spots up for grabs at the conference tournament.

Seed Projections: 125 | 133 | 141 | 149 | 157 | 165 | 174 | 184 | 197

285 Projected Seeds

  1. Gable Steveson, Minnesota
  2. Mason Parris, Michigan
  3. Tony Cassioppi, Iowa
  4. Trent Hillger, Wisconsin
  5. David Jensen, Nebraska
  6. Gary Traub, Ohio State
  7. Seth Nevills, Penn State
  8. Thomas Penola, Purdue
  9. Luke Luffman, Illinois
  10. Alex Esposito, Rutgers
  11. Christian Rebotarro, Michigan State
  12. Jake Kleimola, Indiana
  13. Jack Heyob, Northwestern
  14. Parker Robinson, Maryland

The top two are not in question, and although I think Mason should get seeded ahead of Gable based on resume, I highly doubt the coaches will do it. Parris won CKLV, which Gable did not wrestle at, and wrestled in the Minnesota dual while Gable did not. Both beat Cassioppi and Hillger, with Parris adding a win over Jensen. Neither wrestled Traub or Nevills.

Cassioppi had wins over Hillger, Traub, Nevills, and Penola this year. He also defeated Christian Lance in the Nebraska dual. Hillger lost to the top three guys, but also took out Lance and Traub. That puts him at the four, though he did not wrestle in the Penn State dual.

Nevills lost to Traub who lost to Jensen, giving us a clean 5/6/7. Penola and Nevills did not wrestle, but I'm not sure anyone would seed the Boilermaker over the Nittany Lion. Jensen won 8-3 over Traub in the dual on February 2nd, and Traub beat Nevills 5-4 in their match at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Another clean and easy set as Penola defeated Luffman, Luffman took out Esposito, and Esposito won over Rebotarro. Similar to Nevills and Penola, Rebotarro and Kleimola did not meet but the odds are much better in the Spartan's favor.

To close us out, Kleimola had a win over Heyob. The Wildcat is 1-14, but his one was a major of Parker Robinson, who is 1-22 overall this season.
