Two-time PIAA place winner Trey Kibe has decided to decommit from Penn State, less than a month after he verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.

He also posted the tweet to his Instagram story and deleted his commitment posts from both Twitter and Instagram.

After finishing in fourth place at the Pennsylvania state tournament this past weekend in a loaded AAA bracket at 170, Kibe fell from second in his weight to ninth now.

It is unclear what caused the sudden change, but Alex Facundo is ranked #1 at the same weight class and is also committed to PSU. However, it's possible that they end up at different weights in college. If Kibe stops growing he could be a 174 but he's been speculated to be able to get as big as 197.

Kibe had an incredibly difficult draw at states, facing three nationally ranked opponents and a returning state medalist, plus another guy who placed this year. He finished 38-4 on the year, with a fifth-place finish at Powerade and splitting matches with #2 Tyler Stoltzfus.

He will remain one of the most highly coveted recruits in the 2021 class. The re-opening of his recruiting process leaves open the possibility he could wind up at NC State with former Mifflin County stars Hayden and Trent Hidlay, but he has eight months until signing day.

Watch him defeat eventual AAA state champ Lenny Pinto at Super 32
