Cement job vs cow catcher. What side are you on?

What Do You Call It? Cement Job vs Cow Catcher

Being from the Lehigh Valley, I have to admit that when it comes to this argument I have an extreme bias. However, even with having my biases, I am pretty understanding when it comes to this debate.

So let’s get started.

Growing up, the cement job was the move that came from the Northampton Koncrete Kids. From a young age it was something you had to defend. It’s so simple but so effective. And thankfully, my wrestling-rich hometown has some incredible historians who broke down the history behind the move. (Read all about it right here

In recent years some of the best to make their money with this move was a pair of guys out of Iowa, where cow catcher is used more to describe it, understandably. Tony Ramos sent Carver-Hawkeye into a frenzy when he tossed Jimmy Gullibon to his back in 2013.

Brent Metcalf had a tendency to push guys to the brink then finish them off with force. And it looks like he’s passed on his trick to David Carr

And here’s one more for good measure. I remember seeing it in person and was pretty impressed with Bannister's torque.

For those that are on the side of cow catcher, I just ask what you call it when there’s a roll added to it? If you said “mixer” then I have a follow-up question: where did that come from? I’m pretty sure that it came from the longer naming convention of “cement mixer.” I also know it as a Koncrete special. My friend Steve Mytych was dangerous with that one back in the day, but that's a story for a different day.

Anyway...

For recency sake, I’ll use Mark Hall as a reference. The Marky mixer is a thing of beauty. But for those of us who remember the most famous one, I present Lehigh’s Rob Rohn vs Josh Lambrecht (Oklahoma) in the NCAA finals.

Now, I fully understand that what you call it hinges on where you’re from so basically my entire point is moot. However, this Easton, PA native knows the truth.
