Earlier this summer, The Southeast RTC added two-time world medalist James Green. Burkert joins Green, three-time Hokie All-American and two-time national team member Ty Walz, and Ethan Aguigui who competes at 57kg for Guam. Burkert later clarified that she would still be part of the Army World Class Athlete Program and will be splitting her time at WCAP and in Blacksburg.

Burkert is one of a handful of wrestlers in the U.S. to be in Final X the past two years, falling to Alli Ragan in 2018, and defeating Becka Leathers in 2019 to make her second straight U.S. World Team after replacing Ragan when she was injured in 2018. Burkert was also fifth at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, a three-time Junior World Team member, and fourth at 2018 CISM World Military Championships.
