On Tuesday afternoon, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced that 2019 world team member and NCAA finalist Daton Fix would be suspended for one year for failing an out-of-competition test in late January. STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestler Daton Fix is suspended from competition through Feb. 10, 2021, it was announced after a USADA panel concluded an investigation that began when Fix tested positive for a prohibited substance in January.

The panel found that Fix ingested ostarine by drinking from a water bottle which contained a supplement mixture in addition to ostarine. Fix explained he was not aware of the ostarine in the supplement mixture and voluntarily submitted to a polygraph test as part of the investigation process.

The panel agreed with Fix and USADA that Fix did not intend to enhance his athletic performance by ingesting ostarine and his degree of fault was low.

"I appreciate the panel's thorough review of Daton's case, which clearly showed he did not intentionally violate anti-doping rules," Oklahoma State wrestling coach, John Smith said. "I have known Daton since he was very young and I know that purposely taking a banned substance is not something he would do."

The possibility remains that Fix can compete for Oklahoma State this season and be eligible to compete in the 2021 Big 12 Championships and NCAA Championships, which typically happen in March. He would also be eligible to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials, which typically happen in April.

"I would never knowingly take an illegal substance to improve my performance," Fix said. "We have our resolution so now I can move forward with a clear goal to work toward. I'm thankful for the support of Coach Smith and everyone at Oklahoma State during this time and look forward to making them proud."
