WCAP Team Withdraws From Captains' Cup, Five Replacements Named
The four WCAP athletes slated for Captains’ Cup competition on Feb. 13-14 have withdrawn due to Covid protocol.
USA Wrestling - The four WCAP athletes slated for Captains’ Cup competition on Feb. 13-14 have withdrawn due to Covid protocol. Desiree Zavala has also bowed out due to injury.

Team Burkert took two big hits this week as its captain Jenna Burkert and 50 kg athlete Whitney Conder are both WCAP athletes. Taking over for them is two-time Junior World Team member and McKendree wrestler Brenda Reyna at 57 kg and three-time WCWA All-American for King University Aleeah Gould at 50 kg.
Other WCAP athletes set to compete were Areana Villaescusa at 53 kg for Team Mensah-Stock and Randi Beltz at 76 kg for Team Winchester. Replacing them will be two-time WCWA All-American for King Cheyenne Sisenstein at 53 kg and Geneva Gray at 76 kg.
Finally, Zavala, who was drafted to Team Francis at 57 kg will be replaced by WCWA All-American for Simon Fraser Lauren Mason.
The Captains’ Cup presented by Titan Mercury Wrestling Club is a women’s freestyle dual-meet event that will showcase six teams comprised of the USA’s top women’s freestyle athletes competing for $50,000.
