Heading into the final day of wrestling at the Olympics, Japan and the United States have locked up first and second place in the team standings. Take a look below to see the current top 10 and the remaining potential points for the top countries.
Japan Clinches The Team Title
After a slow start from Japan at 68kg and 76kg, they've rolled off three consecutive Olympic golds and have one more in the finals - Yui Susaki (50kg). Susaki is a two-time world champion and should be the favorite in her gold medal match. If Susaki wins, it would be the second straight Olympics Japan’s women have won 4 of the 6 available golds.
USA’s women have had an amazing tournament but have slowed down over the past two days. Sarah Hildebrandt looked to be on her way to the finals but was thrown at the last second and will wrestle back for bronze. Then, Jacarra Winchester made the bronze medal match but was thrown in a headlock and pinned in the first period. Despite the disappointing losses, those two matches should not take away from either the individual's performance or the team's. Team USA’s women will still finish in second place and, with 3 medals, have more medals at these Olympics than in history.
