We already have a big man super match scheduled for Who’s Number One in Nick Feldman vs Christian Carroll, so why not add one for the little guys? In a battle of two of the best young wrestlers in the country, Bo Bassett will battle Seth Mendoza on September 18, in Dallas, TX, at the ninth installment of FloWreslting’s Who’s Number One.

Wrestling fans from around the world, not just the US, became familiar with Bo Bassett almost exactly a month ago when he dominated his way to a Cadet World title at 45 kg (99.2 lbs). The Windber, Pennsylvania, native pinned three of his opponents and tech falled the other. His relentless style and pace paired with crisp technique just proved too much for the foreign opponents. Just a eigth-grader, Bassett is starting to become one of the most talked-about up-and-coming recruits of all time.

While the Bo Bassett hype train is deserved, don’t let that make you dismiss Seth Mendoza. In fact, Mendoza has beaten Bassett six or seven times in the past. However, the two haven’t competed against each other in several years and both have done a lot of improving and growing up since then. 

Going into his freshman year at Mt. Carmel High School in Illinois, Mendoza is already a Fargo champion. He ran through the 16U 100 lbs bracket this summer outscoring his competition 63-11. In addition to a Fargo title, Mendoza won a Reno Worlds title and made the finals of U15 Nationals in 2021. He’s also a Super 32 champ.

This will truly be a match between two of the future stars of the sport of wrestling.
