Fargo Champ Anthony Knox vs World Silver Luke Lilledahl At Who's Number One
Fargo Champ Anthony Knox vs World Silver Luke Lilledahl At Who's Number One
The two top-ranked guys at 106 lbs didn't get to face off at Fargo, so it's going down at Who's Number One.
Yesterday we announced a young superstar match at 106 lbs between Bo Bassett and Seth Mendoza. However, with Bassett still in middle school and Mendoza just now entering his freshman year, it’s not for the #1 spot, just a super match. But today we are announcing the official match for the #1 spot at 106 lbs: Anthony Knox vs Luke Lilledahl.
Freshman Anthony Knox will be defending the #1 spot. The New Jersey phenom won a Fargo title this summer and went undefeated at 16U Duals with victories over #3 (at 113) Brock Mantanona, #7 Isaiah Quintero, #13 Ethan Rivera, and many solid unranked opponents. You might remember him from the Jordan Burroughs - David Taylor card in January when he defeated at the time #7 in the country Ben Davino in a wild 11-6 match. Knox also took match one from Davino when they met in the U15 Nationals finals in April.
Watch Anthony Knox break down his Fargo final with Sam Herring and get his golden ticket below.
While Knox was making the U15 finals in Wisconsin Dells, Lilledahl was there making the Cadet World Team. The St. Louis native took out #12 Nathan Desmond two matches to none to take the 48 kg spot. He wasn’t done there, however, and won a silver medal at World Championships!
Watch Luke Lilledahl make the Cadet World semifinals below.
With the Cadet World Championships going on at the same time as Fargo, these two didn’t get to face off against one another. That will change on September 18th however when we get to find out who really is number one.
