Carter Young Transfers From Northwestern To Oklahoma State
Not long after placing third at World Team Trials, Carter Young has transferred from Northwestern to Oklahoma State.
After a stellar run at World Team Trials that saw Carter Young knock off Nahshon Garrett, Tyler Graff, and Seth Gross, in that order, the Stillwater High School grad has transferred from Northwestern to Oklahoma State.
Watch Young defeat Seth Gross to make the 2021 National Team in Lincoln:
Carter Young's trajectory has been on the up over the last 12 months. He took fourth at 61kg at Junior Nationals in November of 2020. Young then finished as a runner-up at 61kg at the Junior World Team Trials in May of 2021.
Making the world team in a stacked 61kg bracket just last week suggests that Young has yet to hit the peak of his potential.
Young was a top 100 prospect with strong accolades including a seventh-place finish in the Fargo 126-pounds Junior Fargo bracket in 2019. Carter made his initial commitment to Northwestern in June of 2020.
Excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Northwestern! #wildcats pic.twitter.com/uOMmF6AKkS

Young projects as a 133 or 141-pounder and could see himself in the lineup next to new teammate Daton Fix who will be representing the USA at the Oslo World Championships at 61kg.
