Hawkeyes Land Ben Kueter As Dual-Sport Commit
The #4 ranked 220-pounder in the nation, Ben Kueter, has committed to both wrestle and play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Four-sport prep star Ben Kueter has committed to both wrestle and play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The high school junior is currently the #4 ranked 220-pounder in the nation.
A junior year at City High, Kueter is staying local, as his high school is located in Iowa City, also the home of the Hawkeyes. Kueter also trains at the Sebolt Wrestling Academy. Kueter is already a two-time Iowa 3A state champ, winning his first title at 160-pounds and then last season at 195-pounds.
A top 20 blue-chip recruit in the high school class of 2023, Kueter projects as a heavyweight for head coach Tom Brands and will likely be a linebacker for Iowa's long-tenured football head coach, Kirk Ferentz.
As a three star rated gridiron recruit, Kueter's commitment is being reported by many of the football recruiting outlets, getting his story out to a teeming population of rabid sports fans.
Many in the wrestling community found Kueter on their radar when he made the junior men's freestyle finals at Fargo in the 220-pound weight class this summer.

Also worth noting is that if Kueter plays on the football team at Iowa, he'll receive a full scholarship which won't count against the wrestling team's 9.9 total maximum scholarship limit. The athletic department would count Kueter's full-ride against the football team's limit of 85 scholarships.
