Welsh is a 2X Pennsylvania state finalist, Super 32 finalist, and recently competed at Who’s Number One. After taking out former #1 Manny Rojas in round one, Welsh fell to Gabe Arnold. Although he went 1-1 at WNO, he left many people impressed with his performance as Arnold is #11 on the pound-for-pound list.
Watch Rocco Welsh takeout Iowa State commit Manny Rojas at WNO below.
The future looks bright for Buckeye fans. Although Welsh is their first pickup from the class of 2023, they are arguably the current front runners to bring home #1 recruiting class in 2022 with top guys like Nick Feldman and Nic Bouzakis.
Currently at 170 lbs, Welsh projects as a 174 or 184 in college. This would allow him to nicely slide into the Ohio State starting lineup after either Ethan Smith or Kaleb Romero.
Fans can get a glimpse of Welsh compete with and against the rest of the nation’s best high school wrestlers at Super 32 on October 23 and 24.
