Jenny Wong Reflects On The Day She Trained With Terry Brands

Jenny Wong is excited that the University of Iowa is adding women's wrestling. So excited that she is going through old journals to see what she can find.

Wong was a three-time World team member and 2003 World bronze medalist who currently serves as a medical doctor in Turlock, California. She found a page from her journal that included a day of working with Terry Brands at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where he was serving as a resident coach at the time.

Here is what she had to say, in her own words, about the interview where Iowa head coach Tom Brands discusses the Iowa women's wrestling program and Terry's work with women at the OTC.

Loving the Iowa interviews (on FloWrestling). It’s true what Tom Brands said about (current Iowa associate head coach) Terry helping a few of the women in (Colorado Springs). I remember (Terry) was kind enough to let me do the men’s practice when I had to get to class during the women’s time, and also remember being stunned that he would do a video review with me when he had no obligation to!

Those girls that go to Iowa to train with them are very fortunate indeed.

Below is Wong's handwritten journal entry dated Nov. 2, 2006, when she trained with Terry Brands. Notice the John Smith reference, too.

And here is the interview with Tom Brands.
