Jesse Mendez Has Made His College Decision
Jesse Mendez, ranked second in FloWrestling's pound-for-pound rankings, has decided where he will attend college.
The wait is finally over.
Jesse Mendez, one of the most coveted high school recruits in the country, has made his college decision.
Mendez narrowed his list of schools to Iowa, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana, and Michigan prior to his announcement on FloWrestling Radio Live.
The Crown Point (Indiana) senior will head to Columbus to join Tom Ryan and staff at Ohio State University.
"This process was stressful for sure," Mendez said. "I appreciate all the coaches who recruited me. I decided to announce my recruitment to The Ohio State Buckeyes. They're building something special and they're building a dynasty. It was a close decision but it was Ohio State for the most part. I sat down with my family three nights ago and hashed it out. This might be the best recruiting class ever and I wanted to be a part of it."
Mendez has a hefty stack of credentials, including a 2019 Cadet World team and a 2021 Junior World team. He reached the finals of this year's U23 World Team Trials but withdrew due to an injury in the third and deciding match. The Crown Point prep is also a three-time state wrestling champion who is going for his fourth title this season. He would be just the 10th wrestler in Indiana history to accomplish the feat.
Mendez competed in three straight Who's #1 events on FloWrestling.
