Gfeller Takes Out Demas
The Oklahoma State Cowboys need Kaden Gfeller to perform up to his potential this year if they hope to bring home another trophy from NCAAs. On Sunday night against All-American Dom Demas, Gfeller looked as good as ever and came home with a 9-3 decision win. The 149-pound match opened the Bedlam dual and Gfeller set the tone for the Cowboys.
The turning point in the match was 30 seconds into the third period when Gfeller secured a takedown and was able to catch Demas on his back to tack on 2 near-fall points. While it’s early in the season, if Gfeller continues to perform his best on the big stage, Oklahoma State will be set up to challenge for a trophy in March.
D’Emilio And Kharchla With Big Wins For Buckeyes
Ohio State welcomed Pittsburgh into the Covelli Center Sunday afternoon and cruised to a 30-7 dual meet victory. While the margin of victory was large, the dual meet was a lot closer than the score as Ohio State had 3 one-point victories. Dylan D’Emilio and Karson Kharchla earned the upset wins and were instrumental in propelling the Buckeye’s past the Panthers.
D’Emilio faced off against 2X National Qualifier, #16 Cole Matthews and earned a tight, 3-2 victory. The match was 1-1 until D'Emilio secured the decisive takedown in the third period to edge out Matthews. Kharchla had the premier match of the afternoon against returning National Finalist Jake Wentzel. Kharchla used his unrelenting attacks to secure 2 takedowns to defeat Wentzel 4-3. The Buckeyes are now 4-0 in dual meet competition and will welcome both Michigan (January 14th) and Iowa (January 21st) to the Covelli Center next month.

App State’s Carter And Formato Show Up Against NC State
While NC State won 25-10 over App State on Sunday, William Formato and Sean Carter exceeded expectations for the Mountaineers. At 165 pounds, Formato won a controlling decision over #14 Thomas Bullard, 6-1. This win avenged a 3-2 loss at NCAA’s to Bullard from last season and is a great sign moving forward for the young Mountaineer. At 133, Sean Carter had to get his win in extra time over #17 Jarrett Trombley. Hear from Carter below as he talks through his match-winning takedown.

On top of the upset wins, App State created an incredible atmosphere for the dual against NC State with a standing-room-only, sell-out crowd. That is something we all love to see!
#AppNation, thanks for your amazing support today.
