Between wild duals, dominant performances, and a few surprising upsets - Week 7 had it all! Take a look at the biggest storylines from Division 1 college wrestling below:
Oklahoma State Is ROLLING
On Friday, Oklahoma State went on the road to wrestle dual meets against Air Force and Wyoming. After shutting out Air Force in the opening dual (45-0), they traveled 200 miles north to Laramie and showed zero sign of fatigue winning 30-3 over the Wyoming Cowboys. In the two dual meets combined, Oklahoma State went 19-1 and won 12 matches by bonus points. Couple those duals with their 31-3 win last week over Oklahoma and it’s clear the Cowboys have been one of the most impressive teams in the first 6 weeks of the season. If things continue this way for Oklahoma State, they might not face a serious test in a dual meet until they travel to Columbia Missouri to take on the Tigers in early February.

David Carr Highlights Incredible Iowa State-Purdue Dual
The atmosphere in Humboldt High School was absolutely electric! Iowa State head coach Kevin Dresser and Purdue head coach Tony Ersland returned to their high school alma mater and put on a show for their hometown. From start to finish the matches were competitive and full of energy and drama. While Iowa State took the dual 23-13 (6 matches to 4), there were 5 matches decided by 3 points or less! You can watch a replay of all the matches here.
The sold-out, standing-room-only crowd was also treated to a brilliant performance by defending national champion David Carr. In the marquee match of the night, Carr faced off against #10 Kendall Coleman. After a competitive 2 minutes to start the match, Carr secured a takedown with just 20 seconds to go in the first period and took a 2-0 lead into the second. After an escape, Carr picked up his offense with 2 quick takedowns before picking up the pin by a tilt with 28 seconds remaining in the second period. David Carr is always a treat to watch and his match against Coleman was a perfect example of that Sunday evening.

Oregon State And Wyoming Cleaned Up In Reno
Oregon State and Wyoming were on display at the Reno Tournament of Champions and came away with first and second place respectively in the team race. The team race was tied going into the last final when Gas Tank Gary won a 3-1 decision and clinched the title for Oregon State. In total, the Beavers had 5 first-place finishers and 12 top-6 placers. Oregon State’s champs were: Brandon Kaylor (125), Devan Turner (133), Grant Willits (141), Trey Munoz (184), and Gary Traub (285). Wyoming finished just two points behind the Beavers in the team race with 4 champs and 8 total in the top 6. Check out full results for Reno here.
The most notable win for the Beavers came at 184 pounds when Trey Munoz took out #15 Tate Samuelson in the finals. Munoz used a quick takedown in the first to take an early lead and was able to hold off Samuelson late to win 3-2. The win over 3-time national qualifier Samuelson is the best of Munoz’s young career and especially noteworthy considering Samuelson’s recent results. On Friday night, Samuelson upset #6 Dakota Geer in overtime, 3-1. Both matches change the landscape a bit at 184 and are worth watching below.
