After the world champs, there are 5 other Americans on this card who have won a medal at the world championships - Daton Fix (silver in 2021), James Green (bronze in 2015, silver in 2017), Nick Gwiazdowski (bronze in 2017 & 2018), G’Angelo Hancock (bronze in 2021), and Kayla Miracle (silver in 2021).
Daton Fix and Kayla Miracle both won their first senior world medal by winning silver at the 2021 World Championships. Fix had four straight tech falls before he fell to Russia’s Abasgadzhi Magomedov in the finals (4-1). Miracle wasn’t quite as dominant as Fix but still started her worlds with two techs before she won a close, 2-0 match in the semis. Check out Fix and Miracle’s semi-final matches below:

Last year, G’Angelo Hancock become the first American to win a medal in Greco at the world championships since 2018. After falling in the semi-finals, Hancock came back to defeat Peter Oehler (GER) in the bronze medal match by injury default - Hancock was up 3-0 at the time of the injury.

Stacks Of Age-Level Medals
The recent success of Team USA on the senior level is due to a greater emphasis on the age-level world championships. Of the 17 wrestlers for Team USA competing in Arlington, 14 wrestled on cadet or junior world teams with 4 winning titles. Victoria Anthony was the first to win an age-level world title when she won back-to-back junior world golds in 2009 and 2010. In 2013, Kyle Snyder won his first junior world title and then went on to win junior world bronze in 2014. More recently, Daton Fix won a junior title in 2017. Finally, and most recently, Kennedy Blades won a cadet title in 2018 and junior world gold this past summer in Ufa, Russia.
