This year's Iowa High School State Tournament field will include a total of 31 returning state champions. 13 in 3A, 7 in 2A, and 11 in 1A. With 3 returning champs, including a three-timer all 3A 145, that will certainly be one of the weights to watch.

Below is a list of all returning state champions, broken down by class, in this year's field.

3A

Waverly-Shell Rock leads teams across all three classes with 3 returning champs in Ryder Block, Aiden Riggins, and McCrae Hagarty. It should also be noted that 2021 Florida state champ Bas Diaz is in the 3A 145 bracket.

2A

Greene County picked up a transfer this year in Kale Peterson, giving us a potential champ vs champ final at 120 lbs.

Marcel Lopez, who stopped Brandon Paez from going back-to-back last year, will attempt to become New London's first-ever 4X state champion.
