All-American Dom Demas Headed To Cal Poly
All-American Dom Demas Headed To Cal Poly
Dom Demas has announced his plans to transfer to Cal Poly.
Former Oklahoma Sooner Dom Demas entered the transfer portal in early February and has taken to social media to announce his plans to finish his final year of eligibility at Cal Poly. Demas started at 141 for three years for the Sooners and earned 4th place All-American honors during his freshman season (2018-2019). On top of his collegiate success, Demas is a talented freestyle and Greco-roman wrestler making 5 age-level world teams in both styles - Cadet (Greco-2014-15), Junior (Greco-2017, freestyle-2018), and U23 (freestyle-2021).
Demas will add strength to the middle of Cal Poly's lineup and will likely slot in at either 141 or 149. The Mustangs finished 22nd at the 2022 NCAA Tournament and had 2 wrestlers earn All-American honors - Evan Wick (3rd at 165) and Bernie Truax (4th at 184). While Wick is graduating, Cal Poly will have 4 returning NCAA qualifiers - Antonio Lorenzo, Legend Lamer, Adam Kemp, and the aforementioned Truax. With the addition of Demas, look for the Mustangs to have a strong dual meet team and challenge to finish in the top 20 at the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
