Day 2: Joel Adams Grabs Greco Gold!
Joel Adams capped of day 2 at the U17 World Championships with a Greco Roman gold medal.
Session 2
Cody Merrill entered the World semifinals after an incredible morning session that concluded with two dominant victories by fall. His semifinal against Germany's Darius Kiefer didn't go as well. Merrill trailed by just a takedown after the first period, but Kiefer opened things up for a tech in the second after he was awarded a passivity point and an opportunity in forced par terre. Merrill will wrestle for bronze tomorrow against either Marcell Gyuricza of Hungary or Josip Benko of Croatia.
Joel Adams was Team USA's lone wrestler in the medal matches today, and he made his opportunity count. His arm drags were in full effect as he used them for three takedowns and a 6-0 victory. In total, Adams was 5-0 and was unscored-upon, outpacing his opponents 36-0.
Both Zan Fugitt (60 kg) and Arvin Khosravy (71 kg) were pulled back into repechage and are still in medal contention tomorrow.
