Meyer Shapiro And LaDarion Lockett To Meet At Who's Number One
Cornell bound Meyer Shapiro and Stillwater super sophomore LaDarion Lockett will meet for the first time at Who's Number One on September 9.
On September 9, #1 Meyer Shapiro and #2 LaDarion Lockett will meet in one of the most intriguing matchups of the evening at Who's Number One. These two appeared to be on a collision course in December at Ironman, but Shapiro was unable to compete in a deep bracket that Lockett ultimately won.
Any match involving Shapiro is a must-watch. He hasn't lost in nearly two years and really proved himself last summer when he brought a gold medal home from the 2021 Cadet World Championships. Since that time, he's earned titles at Powerade, National Preps, and Journeymen, knocking off several ranked wrestlers along the way.

LaDarion Lockett has been one of the fastest rising stars in the class of 2025. His first year at Stillwater High School saw success matched by few other freshmen, especially in the 145-152 range. He was an Ironman Champ, finished third at the U17 Trials, and won a stop sign in Fargo this July.

Shapiro is one of the top recruits in the class of 2023, and he's already decided to take his talents to Ithaca to join the Cornell Big Red. Despite being so proven, this will be Shapiro's first time at Who's Number One. He was scheduled to compete against Hunter Garvin at WNO a year ago but injury kept him from competing.
Lockett's recruiting won't open up until next summer, but coaches will certainly be eyeing him on September 9 as he's already ranked the #4 recruit in his class.
